I heard the bells on Christmas Day
Their old, familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet
The words repeat
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
And thought how, as the day had come,
The belfries of all Christendom
Had rolled along
The unbroken song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
Till, ringing, singing on its way
The world revolved from night to day,
A voice, a chime,
A chant sublime
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
Then from each black, accursed mouth
The cannon thundered in the South,
And with the sound
The Carols drowned
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
And in despair I bowed my head;
‘There is no peace on earth,’ I said;
‘For hate is strong,
And mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!’
Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
‘God is not dead; nor doth he sleep!
The Wrong shall fail,
The Right prevail,
With peace on earth, good-will to men!’

~CHRISTMAS PONDERING~
"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his
shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God,
The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace" ----Isa. 9: 6
**************************
The beautiful old Christmas song, "Silver Bells," tells of people who are busy because it will
soon be Christmas Day.  Everywhere we go this season, we see people rushing to buy
last minute gifts or holiday preparations. The malls and stores buzz with holiday excitement
as the glitter and glitz of the season's decorations create a holiday atmosphere.  We also enjoy
giving unto others and the season in which people seem to show more love to others.
Before the Thanksgiving decorations are put away, people are hurrying out
to look for special gifts.  This is one of the most prosperous seasons of the year for merchants.
Many go into debt buying things people don't need, with money they don't have, yet forget
to present the most important gift of all and fail to surrender their heart to the Savior.

Each holiday season many preparations are made ahead for Christmas day. We also
join in the hustle and bustle of the Season.  The presents must be wrapped, traditional
foods prepared, and Christmas plays rehearsed. Everyone is busy making sure
everything is completed before the 25th of December.  Christmas Eve finds many people
making one last trip to the mall to look for sale items or last minute gifts. When
Christmas arrives, it is too late if one has not prepared for the day.  When the 26th of
December arrives, it is all over.
It will be the same in the future day of our Lord, with one exception.
This  generation is not as concerned about the coming Day of the Lord as celebrating
a day representing the birthday of our Savior.  Many prepare for Christmas day,  but have not made
spiritual preparations. These feel they will have another chance, another day. We know not the
day nor the hour of the coming of our Lord, but we do know the signs of the times tell us it
is drawing nigh. We must prepare, as never before, for the day of his appearing. Each
day is another opportunity to draw closer to him and work in the vineyard of the Lord.
Souls are dying and facing eternity each day who are spiritually unprepared.

The best part of preparation to meet the Lord is the fact receiving Christ is a free gift
of God's forgiveness and eternal benefits.  There is no price except believing, receiving,
and obeying the commandments our Lord has set forth for us.  Today is the day of salvation.
Today, there is a gift waiting for those who are searching for the very best in life.
It is the greatest  gift of all and Jesus paid the price on Calvary's old rugged cross.
Without the shedding of his blood there would be no remission of our sins.
His gift came special delivery, from heaven, to save and deliver us, making us new
creations who are children of God and giving us eternal life.

The most important gift of all this season is the gift of salvation. Today is the acceptable
day to receive this free gift.  Remember, we all are only one heartbeat away from
eternity.  Preparation for that day is the most important thing anyone can do.
It will soon be what we refer to as 'The Day of the Lord' as He is coming soon, just
as the Scriptures teach us.   At the end of  time when all sin and rebellion is
removed, there will not only be a celebration of His birth, but one of all
the redeemed eternally.  He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords who
will reign for all eternity.  His name, JESUS, really is Wonderful!
Blessings In Christ,

~SEASON OF JOY~
Christmas is a season of joy
a celebration remembering Christ's birth
We look back to the Scriptures when our Savior was born
When angels cried "glory to God in the highest, and peace on earth."
May every day be like Christmas
with love and peace which only He can bestow
may we have joy and strength,
as through this life we go.
The beautiful decorations we see
of silver, gold, and shining lights
can never compare with the glory that awaits us
when we reach that glorious land of eternal night.
As we near the day to celebrate his birth
may our hearts  always be aware of His presence,
our prayer is to be more like Jesus,
as we praise Him and give Him all reverence.
