* REFLECTIONS 02-27-13

With so many choices and decisions,
so many demands
from people and events,
in our modern fast changing world,
it's a real challenge to
'keep it simple'.

Making it simple means
 making things easy and clear.
The magic wand to wave over your life
 is 'planning and prioritizing'.
Make plans,
long and short term
and then priorities.

Then practice taking one thing at a time,
so you can have one thought at a time,
with some space
before you have to have
your next thought.

But don't get attached
to your plans or priorities.
Be flexible
and yet focused
and in this way
you can teach yourself
to think simply
and act simply.

One thought at a time.
At your own pace.
In your own space.
A simple life
is a contented life.

Surely
there is something
in the unruffled
calm of nature
that overawes our little
anxieties and doubts:
the sight of the
deep-blue sky,
and the
clustering stars above
seem to impart
a quiet
to the mind.

~ Jonathan Edwards

  I am grateful
for what I am and have.
My thanksgiving
is perpetual...
O how I laugh
when I think of my
vague indefinite riches.
No run on my bank
can drain it
for my wealth
is not possession
but enjoyment.

~Henry David Thoreau

"Your greatness
is measured by your kindness;

your education and intellect

by your modesty;

your ignorance

is betrayed by your suspicions

and prejudices,

and your real caliber

is measured by the consideration

and tolerance

you have for others."

~ William J.H. Boetcker

The fact that I can plant
a seed and it becomes a flower,
share a bit of knowledge
and it becomes another's,
smile at someone
and receive a smile in return,
are to me
continual spiritual
exercises.

     ~ Dr. Felice Leonardo Buscaglia

If you are unhappy
with your lot in life,
build a service station
on it.

~ Corrie Ten Boom

- I CRY TONIGHT -

You'd say baby I love you

I'd say I love you too...

I liked it when you called me baby

but now I need someone to save me

from the misery

the sleepless nights

the pain of a broken heart

of a lost soul.

I don;t know what to do anymore

I am so lost without you

My love was real

I'm thinking yours was fake

I would never have hurt you

the way you hurt me

I would never have made you cry

the way you made me cry

I would never have made you cry

as many times you made me

I cry almost every night now

I wish I had saved all those tears

that you made me cry

so I can drown you in them

I wish I had you

I wish I had someone to hold me

the way you held me

I wish I had someone to kiss me

the way you kissed me

I wish I had someone to make me feel special

the way you made me feel special

I wish I had someone to make me feel beautiful

the way you made me feel beautiful

the way you told me I was beautiful

am I not beautiful now?

am I not special now?

am I not kissable now?

am I not holdable now?

I wish so many things

My biggest wish is you

I wish all these things

The only wish I want to come true is you

It's disappointing

I know I can't have you

But I wish I had you

I have had you in the past

but i screwed up

I made no effort

I love you so much

All I need is your touch

I can't get your touch

and can't have you

The last time you touched me

You hit me

whether you were playing or not

your last touch was when you hit me

the love the pain

they say don't cry because its over

smile because it happened

but I'm not smiling

I'm crying

I cry tonight

Ready or not,
Some  day it will all come to an end.
There will be no more sunrises,
no days, no hours or minutes,
All the things you collected,
whether treasured or forgotten,
will  pass to someone else.
Your wealth, fame and temporal power
will shrivel to irrelevance.
It will not matter what you owned
or what you were owned..

Your grudges, resentments,
frustrations, and jealousies will finally,
disappear ,so too your hopes,ambitions,
plans and to-do lists will all expire.
The wins and losses
that once seeed so important will fade away.
It won't matter where you came from,
or on what side of the tracks you lived.
It  won't matter whether,
you were beautiful or brilliant.
Your gender, skin color, ethnicity will,
be irrelevant.

So what will  matter ?
How will the value of,
your days be measured ?

What will matter is not what you bought,
but what you built;
not what you got, but what  you gave.
What will matter is not your success,
but  you significance.
What  will  matter is not what you learned,
but what you taught.
What will matter is every act of integrity,
compassion, courage and sacrifice that,
enriched, empowered or encouraged,
other to emulate your example.

What will matter is not your competence,
but  your character.
What will matter is not
how many people you knew,
but  how many will feel,
a lasting loss when you're gone.
What will matter is not your memories,
but  the memories of those who loved you.
What will matter is how long
you will be remembered,
by whom and for what.

Living a life that matters
doesn't  happen by accident.
It's not a  matter or circumstance,
but of choice.
Choose to live a life that matters.
