* REFLECTIONS 02-01-13

February is the second month of the year
It has 28 days.
It is derived from the Latin word 'Februa'
which means purification.

BIRTHSTONE: Amethyst

FLOWER: Violet, Primrose

SYMBOLIZES: Sincerity

Thirty days hath September,
April, June, and November;
All the rest have thirty-one,
Excepting February alone
Which hath but twenty-eight, in fine,
Till leap year gives it twenty-nine.

"Youth is like spring,
an over-praised season
more remarkable for biting winds
 than genial breezes.
Autumn is the mellower season,
and what  we lose in flowers
we more than gain
in fruits."

-   Samuel Butler

One of the conclusions
I have come to in my old age
is the importance
of living in the ever-present now.
In the past,
 too often I indulged
in the belief that somehow
or another tomorrow
would be brighter
or
happier or richer.

~ Ruth Casey

If you look into the hearts
of all the people
you encounter today
and offer them love,
you will receive
that which you give.

~ Unknown

"The air is different today
the wind sings with a new tone
sighing of changes
coming
the harvest gathered
a flower, a nut
some mead, and bread
a candle and a prayer
returning the fruits
in thanksgiving
to the grove
and receiving
it's blessing
again"

-   Rhawk, Alban Elfed

Look at a day
when you are
supremely satisfied at the end -
it's when
you've had everything to do,
and you've done it.

~ Margaret Thatcher
